Week 2 | Day 2 | Activity 3: "I Have a Dream" (Six Points) | Summer Learning Journey

LI: To describe Rosa Parks story.

For this activity we started off by reading an article or watching a video about Rosa Parks story. After that we had to describe Rosa Parks story in our own words. There were guiding questions to help us and they were: What did Rosa Parks do about the problem? How did other people react? I enjoyed this activity and I am glad that those laws don't exist in the present.

  1. Kia ora Farzana,

Weather is looking a little brim today! What have you been up this week? I think I have mentioned it before but I am working at the ASB Classic tennis tournament this week and I actually got to see Serena Williams in person!

In terms of your activity, I think that you have summarised the story of Rosa Parks really well and I really appreciate that you have included your own perspective on the event! Rosa Parks is actually one of my idols because of how strong and brave she is and unfortunately when these kinds of incidents have happened to me, I remember how she stood up for herself and it helps me stand up for myself. Do you have an idol that you look up to or someone who reminds you to be brave?

Well done for another awesome blog post Farzana, keep leaving mindful and thoughtful comments on other learners’ blog post :)

  3. Hi Farzana,
I liked how you described the setting, why Rosa was told to move and what the problem with America was back then. Some people still believe that racism exists in America, what do you think?

  4. Hey Farzana! I like how you explain what happened, and YOUR opinion on the situation. Rosa Parks is an inspirational to a lot of African-Americans, including myself! What's something you took away from this story? I'd say standing up for yourself, and what's right...Great work!
