Week 2 | Day 2 | Activity 1: A Long Walk to Freedom (Four Points) | Summer Learning Journey

LI: To write about how Nelson Mandela's prison life was like.

For this activity we had to imagine that we were Nelson Mandela and that we were living in Robben Island Prison. We first read articles and watched videos to look at the background o Nelson Mandela. I did the first day, the second day, the third day and three months in. I enjoyed this activity.

  1. Hi Farzana!,
What a great journal you have wrote about the perspective of Nelson Mandela. Your journal is detailed and explains your prison schedule. It's great that you have included the days and month of each paragraph of the journal.

    Well Done!

  4. Afternoon Farzana! How are you doing today? Olive here. Grey skies present. Wind is minimal. Sunshine gone?

Thank you for a great blog post! I really enjoyed reading your journal entry about Nelson Mandela’s experience in Prison. It was a very tragic thing that happened to Mr Mandela. I think you’ve written very well in this activity. I thought your journal entry was very descriptive yet realistic. You’ve done a great job of including key dates, words such as “limestone...hardloop and isolated”. Ka pai on all your effort. Awesome creativity!

    Keep up the great blogging!

    Ngā mihi,
    Olive

  6. Hi Farzana,
I liked how you didn't just write about one day, instead you wrote about three. I also liked how you described the guards, the conditions and the work that the prisoners needed to do. Do you have a diary?
