Week 1 | Day 2 | Activity 2: One Small Step for Man (Four points) | Summer Learning Journey

LI: To write a poem about landing on the moon.

For this activity we had to write a poem about how we would feel if we were the first person to step foot on the moon. I chose to do a Haiku poem. A haiku poem must have five syllables in the first line then seven syllables and back to five syllables. I used a site to help make the layout of the haiku. I enjoyed making a poem.

I’m Dani, one of the blog commenters for the Kaikohekohe cluster for the Summer Learning Journey. I have heard some great things about the students at Panmure Bridge School so I thought I would jump on and check out some blog posts.

What an interesting haiku you have written about space. You have done a very clever job adding in Neil Armstrong’s famous first line on the moon. What do you think you would say if you ever got to visit the moon? I think I would be speechless for a while because it would be so different to anything I had ever seen. Then my first words might be lets go explore over here!

As it is the holiday period many of the Summer Learning Journey team are currently away from work and are spending some time with their friends and family. This means that you would get many encouraging comments over this time. We want you to keep blogging and we will comment on as many of your posts as we can when everyone is back at work!

    Keep the blogging up!

    Blog ya later,

  3. Hi Farzana,
I liked how you also made a Haiku, I also liked how you say mission accomplished at the end because you've just landed on the moon. Did you find this activity easy or hard to do?

  4. Salam Farzana! I love your poem! Simple, but effective. Favorite line was "Mission accomplished", because it really makes the whole poem sound poetic and fitting. This was a great way to describe the landing in such few words. Amazing Haiku!
