Decimal Numbers
LI: To add and subtract decimals by place value and check using written algorithm.
Decimals are numbers higher than zero but lower than a solid number. In our maths groups we were adding and subtracting decimal numbers. To add a decimal numbers you need to add the lowest numbers first. For example 2.32 + 1.20, I will add the two and the zero which are at the right hand side. 2 + 0 = 2. Then you make your way up to the left. 3 + 2 = 5. 2 + 1 = 3. After adding them put it into the right place. 2.32 + 1.20 = 3.52. To subtract decimal numbers you have to subtract the lowest number first like the adding one. 2.38 - 1.28. 8 - 8 = 0. 3 - 2 = 1. 2 - 1 = 1. Put them into the right place. 1.10 or 1.1. I liked adding and subtracting decimal numbers.
