Kiwi Sport | Gymnastics

LI: To develop body movement of balance, rotation, & strength.

Today the year fives went to the hall for the fourth gymnastics session. The first thing that we did was get into our stretches.

Stretches:
1. L Shape: Lifting your arms up to the ceiling then putting you legs in front of you.

2. Seal: Putting you back straight and looking towards the floor.

3. Butterfly: Putting you feet together and flapping it up and down.

4. Cat Stretch: Stretch your back like a cat and stretching your head until you can see the wall behind you.
5. Straddle: Position your legs to face outwards like a split shape.

6. Back, Front, Side Support: Position your back to be straight and your back towards the floor with your hands pointing to your feet and do the same with the others.

7. Candle shape: Lift your legs using the muscles and place your hands on your back then put your elbows on the floor.

Activity:
After that we went on to the rotations. The rotation parts were the:
Balancing station, the Postion station, and the Strength station.

Rotations:
At the balancing station half way on the beam we had to take a big jump and then walk back on to the stage, cartwheel along the blue beam, do the foward roll off the stage, do the bunny hop, and then do the roll on the beam.

At the position station we had to run up to a trampoline and do a straight jump land on your feet then do a forward roll after you have jumped, do the backwards roll on a right angled triange, do the backwards roll on the mat, then do the candle shape on the floor, then the two leg handstand twice and do the staight jump.

At the strength station we had to do a handstand on a bar, do the back/front/side support on a hexagon stick, balance of the parallel bars, lift yourself over the bar and then do mini pushups on a cube.

Reflection:
I enjoyed this weeks session and I thought the back/front/side support on a hexagon stick was difficult to complete.
