Medicine | Maths

Maths is used in almost every job. The jobs that use maths a lot are: medicine, science, engineering etc. Some jobs don't use maths a lot, they can just use basic addition or multiplication.

In the medical field, maths is important. Medicine requires people to be good at: measuring, trigonometry, algebra etc.

Measuring means to find out the amount, size or level of something. Trigonometry means to handle the relation of sides and angles of a triangle. Algebra means to find out what certain symbols represent.

Understanding how to use maths can help people to find a job in the medical field and to help people get better or prevent getting sick.

  1. Hello Farzana,
You have identified the significant math skills required in a medical field. You have explained what measurement, trigonometry and algebra help with, and this helps your audience understand why doctors should be good at these skills. What do you suppose are some other maths skills that people should be good at for this profession and why?

    1. Hello Bella,
Thank you for the feedback. I think that people should be good at addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. I think this because having the knowledge of the operations can be significant when being occupied in a very important job. Do you think being a doctor is a good job and why?

    2. Hello Farzana,
Thank you for taking the time to give an answer to my question. I agree that doctors should be good at the four basic operations for this profession. Yes, I think being in the medical field is good because it gives sick and injured people a chance to heal and get better, and possibly grow stronger. Why did you choose to do medicine?

    3. Hello Bella,
Thank you for answering my question. I chose medicine because I think that when people are fighting against diseases and injuries, they should be given the opportunity to get better. It can be difficult for them to put up with, and I want to help people to fight it more easily. Thank you for this conversation and opportunity to learn more about this topic.
