U-turn | Interactive book | Conflict and Resolution
LI. To make a book interactive. This week for reading we had to create an interactive version of a text called 'U-turn'. First we had to make a copy of a conflict and resolution graphic organiser to understand the book. After finishing that we then started the interactive book. We could either use a template or make a slide for ourselves. I chose the template because I am kind of new to this. I had to ask: 2 figurative language questions, 3 vocab questions, and 2 te reo questions. In total that was 7 questions. I enjoyed making a quiz about U-Turn, and I hope I could do more of this in the future.
Maori
LI. To learn about the weather of the week. This week for maori we had to create a DLO about the weather for the week in maori. We had to find: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday in maori. It was first: cloudy, rainy, rainy, and sunny.
Kiwi Can
Today we went to room seven to take part of the second kiwi can session. Our topic was respect for our school, and our theme was respect. We talked about respect and what it means. Respect means being thoughtful or kind to others even though they are not your friends or family. After that we played our energizer which was called 'Center Ball'.
We had to make a circle standing up. Ms. Paige then told us the rules and how to play center ball. Mr. Matt placed a ball in the middle of the circle, then Ms. Paige gave us a number. I was one. Finally we played the energizer. When Ms. Paige or Mr. Matt called out a number those group of people had to run around the circle into their spot and then grab the ball without diving. Whoever got the ball first is the winner for the round. Unfortunately I never got the ball. We then talked about respecting our class.
The kiwi can leaders asked us a few questions about respect. We answered them and then we went on with our activity which was 'Bus stop'.
We got a piece of paper and a felt tip pen. Ms. Paige explained the rules which were: when someone says "Bus stop" you must stop writing. We played the game after the rules. Ms. Paige said a letter and then we had to think of a boy name starting with that letter, a girl name, a food, an animal, and a colour. After 3/4 round of the game the bell rang and we went back to the class.

Commenting
LI. To give feedback on peoples blogpost or DLO's. Today I decided to comment on Matthew's blogpost. He had good understandable information on his DLO but he still needed some changes like adding some more information on his blurb. In his blogpost he talked about M.A.I.N and the meaning of the words in it. He also talked about the immediate cause of WW1. Besides that he did pretty well!
Prototec
LI. To learn all the multiplication & division basic facts. Today I did the multiplication and division facts on Prototec. It had the multiplication basic facts section and also the other section. I decided to do the multiplication side. I said it as I went and got kind of used to it. I hope one day I know all my times table because it can really impact your future as a child.
Keyboarding
LI. To practise learning how to keyboard. Today I went on Dance Mat Typing to practise keyboarding properly. I learnt how to type with the home row keys. It was pretty hard but enjoyable. Usually I get really mixed up and write random letters, but today I was a bit better and focused. I worked on stage 8.

Writing | Paragraph Structure
LI. to correct certain structure and language features in a recount. This week for writing we had to correct a paragraph that Mr. Wong wrote. We were learning paragraph structure, so we had to fix the structure of the paragraph. The structure of a paragraph is T.E.E, it stands for Topic Sentence, Explain, Ending. Sometimes the end of your paragraoh can have a leading sentence to the other paragraph. We found a lot of mistakes with the paragraph. We also had to make a copy of the document and then we rewrote the paragraph to make it more understandable.
Inquiry | M.A.I.N
LI. To learn about the M.A.I.N causes of WW1. This week for inquiry we had to finish a slide deck about M.A.I.N & the immediate causes of WW1. We had to watch a video about who shot Archduke Franz, what M.A.I.N is, and the four M.A.I.N reasons why WW1 started. We had to fill in the definition of M.A.I.N. It stands for Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism and Nationalism. They are big words with easy to understand meanings. We then had to think about the immediate cause and photos to go with your idea.
Kiwi Sport | Boxing
Today we went to the hall for our first session of kiwi sport. We were doing boxing. Our coach's name was Pax.
She covered what she did, how she won a match, why she won and what she put into it to win. She won her first match by training twice everyday even though she didn't like it. The reason why she did it was so she could raise money for charity. She had a lot of confidence in herself too. Pax then told us the three commandments.
The first one was: Respect. We said, I will have respect for myself, my coach, my peers and the sport of boxing. The second commandment was: Discipline. For this one we had to say, I will have the discipline to turn up to every boxing session and give my 100%. The last commandment was: Safety. We said, I will not cause harm to others and only practise boxing in a safe environment under the guidance of a coach. We then went on to the session.
For this weeks session we were learning to types of punches which were: Jab, cross. We learnt wore the liners and the gloves after the liners. First we had to learn the starting position which was the rock. It was called the rock because a rock is hard. We had to put our right leg out, right leg back, left foot in front and both hands on our cheekbones. We practised it and then Pax asked us to stand up with our partners, my partner was Charlize. I had to test Charlize if she did the rock position correctly and lightly pushed her. She was stiff and that was good. I then lightly pushed her on the side. She moved a bit but not to much. She then did that to me. We learnt the Jab, cross after that. We started with our rock position and then learnt the jab part. Pax instructed us to put our ledt hand straight out and that was it. But we had to put our left hand back at the same speed we jabbed. We then did that a couple of times. We then went on to learning the cross part. We had to put our right hand straight out, turn our hips, right hand lifts up and then we had to turn our right toes towards the direction we went with our punch. We then mixed it up. After that we ended the session.
It was fun boxing with Pax. I really enjoyed it.

Painted Hoe | Conflict resolution
LI. To analyze a story with its conflict and resolution. This week for reading we had to fill in a DLO about the conflict and resolution about a story that we read which was called: "Painted Hoe". We did a example as a class and then did our own DLO. We first had to find the groups that had the same ideals. In this case it is just the Maori people and the European people. Then we had to give a idea of what the groups had in common. My book that I think has a conection to this story is called: "Making bombs for hitler". The reason why I think this is because both of the stories have times where they are close to war due to arguements with other races or nationalities.
Maori | Parihaka
Today Whaea Odie came to our class to teach us about the Maori history. She read us a book first. It was about Guy fawkes who tried to explode the unfair king's castle. The book was called: "Remember that November". I think it is called that because on November the 5th people celebrate Guy Fawkes with fireworks and it is a memorable thing that happend. He got put away in prison.
We then got into pairs and had to go on google maps and find Parihaka on the map. We got a sheet of NZ and we had to mark down where Parihaka was. To do that we had to find out what the city nearest to Parihaka, which was: New Plymouth. We found New Plymouth on the sheet and put Parihaka under New Plymouth. The bell then rang after the activity.
Geometric Activities
LI. To create an activity about a topic that we chose. This week for maths we had to create an activity about a topic that you would like to learn with Mr. Ogilvie. I chose geometry because I kind of forgot about the little details about geometry. I now know most of the stuff about geometry. I made three activites. The first one was: The meaning of rotation, reflection and translation. The second meaning was: Rotating, reflecting, and translating shapes. The last activity was: Looking for different words for rotation, reflection, and translation. Here is the link- https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1HengEem3VCCOlTOSKmczwuoxTV4GgNTQcjn7lR9_1bo/edit?usp=sharing
Smart Media: Media is a construction | Cybersmart
LI. To identify the gimmicks used to attract and persuade people to purchase products. This week for cybersmart we had to fill in a google presentation about smart media. Our focus was to identify all the gimmicks that cereal companies use to pursue kids to keep on buying their cereal. We had to think about all the media constructed by the school, and also all the media created by yourself. We had to finish the last three slide decks and then our presentations are completed.

Reading | Conflict and Resolution
Inquiry | WW1 Vocabulary & Marching towards war
LI. To learn about the causes, effects, and resolution for WW1. This week for inquiry we had to make a copy of a google slide that Mr. Wong and Mr. Ogilvie created for our inquiry. We had to fill in a WW1 vocabulary list and a time line towards WW1. We had to search the words up and then write the meaning in your own words. There fore we had to understand what the meaning is. We then had to find some images of the list and put it beside the definition. I put a link on how to pronounce the words.
Writing | Mock Test
LI. To quickly write a recount using the correct structure and language features. This week for writing we had to create a google document about the Sky Tower visit and it was a mock test. We had to finish it in 40min. We had to use TREE and all the language features in a recount. I was able to finish it in 40min. We also had to check our writing to see if there is any mistakes in it. We also had to check our vocabulary and our punctuation.

Maori History
Today Whia Ode came to our classroom to teach LS1 group A about the Maori history. Whia Ode first read us a story about 'In the beginning'. It was about how the god Tane seperated Rangi and Papa who are gods. Then Whia Ode showed us a sand art video of a person drawing In the beginning story with sand and his hands.
She taught us a song about when Maori tribes sang the soldiers a song when they came back to their islands. Whia Ode then told us about the founder of New Zealand which was Kupe. We learnt how Kupe and his wife found New Zealand. One day Kupe saw birds migrating south and he thought that there must be land south. So Kupe and his wife set sail to explore the south. They took Coconuts and Bananas on their journey because Coconuts have water inside of them. They used their hands, stars and birds to know where they're going. Kupe's wife saw land and showed it to Kupe.Istead of Kupe's wife getting the title Kupe got it because he was a male and Kupe's wife was a female.

Cybersmart | Media is a construction
LI. To identify gimmicks used to attracked and pursuade people to purchase products. This week for cybersmart we had to make a DLO of all the gimmicks used on a company box or packaging. We played a game Co-Co's AdverSmart. We had to design an attracting cereal box that can pursue youths to buy that cereal. We also had to use gimmicks to pursue the youths. We then pointed out the gimmicks on the DLO and explained why they use the gimmicks.
Kiwi Can | Respect
Today LS1 group A went to kiwi can to take part of our first session for term four. We had a new kiwi can leader which was Miss. Paige. She was replacing Miss. Lily. After Miss. Paige introduced herself to us. We talked about our new topic and theme.
Our theme and topic were: Respect, and respect for our school. We talked about what respect means and why we should use respect in our school and outside of our school. After that we played our energizer which was called: No rules vs Rules.
We were playing tag but without rules. Everyone had to tag eachother and it was very confusing for me because when people tagged me I didn't know if I should sit somewhere or keep playing. It was fun too. Then we played the tag with rules next. There was two taggers with a pool noodle. Everyone who got tagged had to sit on the lino. When we played the tag with rules I had more knowledge of what to do and it was more fun than the tag without any rules. I'd prefer the tag with rules better.
We then talked about the rules of our school. We answered and said: "No fighting", "No going out of the school boundaries" and ect. Miss. Paige and Mr. Matt asked us why and we said: "Because if you fight you can get injured badly", "Because if you fight it can affect your future self", "Because if you go out of school boundaries you can get run over a car" and "Because if you go out of school boundaries you might not know that you're tresspassing somewhere and get in trouble".

Holiday Exersize | Stonefield park
Yesterday I went to the Stonefield park with my cousins and brother, Nadia, Sakina, Zahra & Mahdi. We went for a walk/run and had fun in the park.
We walked around the place and there was a lot of dogs. I got chased by one. It was a black dog that was waiting for me to look at it in the eye, when I did it started to get closer and I ran as fast as I could. My cousin, Nadia took the dog back to its owner. I was so scared. Nadia told me to never look at a dog in its eyes and run away. I was furious with my brother because he was laughing.
We then started to walk again. On the way there was ponds with goldfish and some blackfish. My cousins and brother started to run but I wasn't. We did some challenges like 'floor is lava', 'silly salmon', and 'shoot challenge'. It was fun but we went back to play in the park. There was a scate park next to the park itself. No one was on the scate park. Although we didn't have a scate we played on it and had a challenge on who could get up on the ramp first.
We went to Countdown and then headed home. It was a fun day and I learnt to never look dogs in the eye again because they might attack you.
