LI. To prove that a cat is an organism. This week for inquiry we had to create a video about a thing we chose. My group picked cats. We had to prove that a cat is an organism. We made a script and practised so we can remember all the things we wrote. We made a slide presentation about how a cat uses MRS. GREN. We tried a lot to memorize the words and sentences but sometimes failed. We also had difficulties with the pause button which caused us to take long but we used my netbook then it worked. We talked fast so we have enough time to edit all the mistakes.
I am a Year 7 student at Panmure Bridge School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Learning Space 2 and my teachers are Mrs Anderson and Mrs Fisi'iahi.

Commenting
Today I decided to make a comment on Karlos's inferring blogpost. I like how he adds a lot of information in the learning intention which tells me a lot about how or why he did the activity. I understanded everything he said on his blog perfectly. He had a few spelling mistakes. Other than that it was all perfect.
Cybersmart | Smart relationships
LI. To interact online in a kind, positive and, helpful way. This week for cybersmart we had to create a simple google drawing to tell people about our netiquette rules. Our rules are- Write clear and easy to read comments and emails. Show kindness, truthfulness, and encouragement. Keep your private information safe. Ask for permission when posting other people's personal information. Don't look for arguments online. We watched a video about cybersmart. We then re-caped the video so we could understand the video.
Kiwi Can | Consequences
Today we went to kiwi can. We learnt about consequences and what it means. For our energizer we played 'Grab the cone'. For the game we had to get a partner then Ms. Lily set cones in the middle of the partners. The partners had to face each other. We went in then took a step back. When Ms. Lily said 'Banana' we had to grab the cone! I lost for all the rounds but, it is ok. We then talked about consequences. After taliking about consequences we got into our activity which was 'Blind square'. We got numbered then put into the groups I was in group four with Vayan, Hosea, and Chris. We had to get the balls while blind folded; Only one person each team could go. After that Ms. Lily and Mr. Matt put the points on the chart. In total we got twenty three points.
Maori | Whai
Today for Maori we played a string game. We each got a string and had to make a eiffel tower, cupasawsa and the parachute. I tried and tried to do the two diamonds but failed each time. It was the hardest for me. Only Fau and Afatia was able to do the two diamonds. I learnt the parachute first then the cupasawsa. I am going to continue to try the two diamonds until I get it correct because I really want to do the two diamonds.
Show and Tell | Descriptive writing
LI. To write a descriptive scene. This week for writing we had to practise showing and not telling so, our stories can be descriptive. I tried my best to do this because I tell a lot. The tell part was easy for me so I did that part first. I wrote about that picture on the DLO. Mr. Wongs writing groups did a photo together and created a whole paragraph that was showing what the image was about.

Storyboard | Inferences
LI. To infer information from a text. This week for reading I had to make a comic strip about the inferences that I made using the book 'Boost'. One if my inferences are I think everyone is an animal, and the evidence is Zaza has a white tail, Alice had a tail like Zazas, Caleb's was short and waggy, Ramesh could hang his one like a possum. We also had to write evidence.
Fractions | Persentages | Decimals
LI. To understand mixed number, improper, and equivalent fractions. This week for maths we had to create a DLO with fractions, percentages and decimals. We also had to write on one of the DLO's the type of fraction it was. A fraction is a whole divided into equal parts.

Commenting
Today I decided to comment on Alayahs blog post about the structure and language featurs for a narrative. She had really good content. She could have picked another colour for her DLO but other than that it was perfect.
Circulatory system | Activities
LI. To difine respiration. This week for inquiry we had to finish the tasks. My group completed two tasks. I worked on the Haiku poem with Mojtaba, Matthew, and Lukah. And our whole group worked on the fish bone but we did different parts of it then we changed it up because some of the information was false. We showed the work to Mr. Wong and we got 1 credit for the Haiku and 2 credits for the fish bone.
Reading | Flip Grid
LI. To self monitor understanding of words and phrases. This week for reading we had to make a flip grid about the book we read and what it is about. We had to read the book first then we had to complete the vocabulary list as a group. Then we did the flip grid.
Kiwi Sport | Rippa Rugby
Today LS1 Group A went to the court to play rippa rugby. First we played Rippa Rush. Hamish seperated us into three groups we lined up on the yellow lines but a group had to sit out because only two groups can play it. We then switched over. Our focus was to defend the other group with a strategy that Hamish taught us. Then we played a defending game to get used to defending. My group was the defending team first. We had to get on side then when Hamish blew the whistle we tried to do the defending but some of us broke the line which made the running team get more points. After that we were the running team. When Hamish blew the whistle again we ran as fast as we could, our team got seven points. The last thing we did was rippa rugby. We were in first with another team. My team was at the yellow line. We scored one point because people kept on getting ripped. The other team won, and the other team was second. Finally we put away our rippas and velcro belts and went back to LS1.

Kiwi Can
Today we had kiwi can. Our theme for this term is Integrity and our new topic for this week is accountability. Accountability means honesty. First we played our energizer which was 'Copy Me'. For the game Miss. Lily divided us into 4 groups. We did it last week but they changed it the aim of the game was to get the most cards and the group that had the most cards were the winning group. Every card that we got had a number, Miss. Lily put tasks to do and labled them from 1-10. If we got 5 we had to make a 5 second handshake with someone in the group. At the end my team was the winning team we made sure we were super fast. Next we played another activity. The game was called 'Buddy Move'. Miss. Lily told us to get a partner. My partner was Charlize. We got into a circle then another circle making two circles. Miss. Lily called out a fruit the fruits represented something so banana was swiching positions. Apple was going under the partners legs. Watermelon was going on your partners back. Orange was fast walking around in a circle once. At the end we played GKQ (General Knowledge Questions). We started with Vayan. I was suprised because they know intresting facts that I didn't even know. After that the lunch time bell rang and we went back to class to eat lunch.
Maori- Matariki
Today we had Maori. For Maori we talked about the seven stars of Matariki. We also learnt a new song that relates to Matariki. After that we did a word search that is based on Matariki. I don't think a am amazing at it but I am a little bit good at word searches. When I finished the word search Whae Ode told me to write the lyrics of the song we learnt behind the word search paper. Finally we watched a video about Matariki. The video is called- Together in love.
Lattis and Japanese methods
LI. To learn different ways to multiply. This week for maths we had to create a DLO explaning how to do the Lattis and Japanese methods to solve equations. I found the Japanese method hard and I find the Lattis method easier because I have done a method that is like the Lattis method. I like both ways. Mr. Ogilvie taught us how to do these methods.
Structure & Language features in a narrative
LI. To identify the strucutes and language features in a narrative. This week for writing we had to create a DLO with the structures and language features in a narrative. I used the 'Text Reminders' to help me. We explained some of the parts on the mat.

Cybersmart - Advantages with retail shopping
Today for cybersmart we were talking about advantages with retail shopping. The advantages with retail shopping is- You can see if the quality is good or not. You can get recommendations. You can get the product faster. You can get the price cheaper. You can see different products. You can check if it is expired or not and more. I would rather retail shop instead of online shop because retail shopping has better advantages, and you can get scammed for online shopping. I recommend people to go retail shopping because you can get scammed real money and that is not good. However you can also get scammed when you are retail shopping but luckily you can get scammed rarely. Personally I think scamming is not ok.
Kiwi Can
Today we went to kiwi can in room seven. Our focus was being a good role model. We talked about how being a good role model will help. When we did that we played our energizer. The energizers rules are- you can't use two hands, and you can't put your feet together. I was the winner for the first round with a lot people. For the second round I was the winner again with a lot of people again. Then Miss Lily stopped the game so we can talk more about being a good role model. Our theme for this week for this week is Integrity and our topic is being a good role model. After having a discussion about being a good role model we played our activity. Our activity is 'Silent one'. We got into four groups. When we did that Miss Lily got a big dice and told us to roll the dice. We had to pick a leader. For the first round I was the leader. Miss Lily put a number list and put exercises and things to do.
Maori - Matariki
Today we had Maori. We were learning about the seven stars of Matariki. First we did a research on YouTube about a video called Maori Poi Dance - Melville Intermidiate school. When we finished watching the video we watched three more videos. The videos are called A Matariki Story, The Story of Matariki, and Matariki. The videos talk about how the Matariki became. Some of them are different stories but they are all a cool story of Matariki. One of the story talks about how the parents got seperated and why the brother seperated them. Another story talks about how the seven sisters did a job for there parents because they are to fidgety.

Venus flytrap
Venus flytrap
Venus fly traps attract flies by the nectar on the leaves.
The nectar attracts the flies because flies need nectar. The nectar is all around the leaves so they can
actually go inside of the trap.
When they get really attracted to the nectar the trigger hairs come next.
If the fly triggers one hair a timer has started. If the fly touches two hairs under twenty seconds the
trap with shut close. This will happen because when the fly touches the trigger hairs it will send a electric
charge to the cells surrounded with water.
charge to the cells surrounded with water.
When the second trigger happens under twenty seconds the electric charge will over power the cells,
causing the water to shoot out from the trap side to the outside of the leave. When the water changes
locations the fly trap will snap shut into a concave shape. They will snap shut because of the water
changing locations. The next step of the proces is the dissolving of the fly.

The venus fly trap then dissolves the fly over ten days. The venus flytrap needs ten days or so because
it absorbs the weak part first then moves on to the complex parts. The cause of this is by releasing an
arange of digestive enzymes.

Venus fly traps use a complex tool to trap animals for nutrition. Other plants like pitcher plants have a
much easier way of trapping animals to eat for the nutrition. They attract flies by the nectar bribes and
by the visual lures.

Volume and Capacity
LI. To measure volume and capacity. This week for maths we had to create a flip grid explaning what volume and capacity is. Here is the like to my volume and capacity flip grid- Volume and Capacity Volume is the amount of space is taken up. Capacity however is the amount an object can hold. It was my first time doing a flip grid and to me I think I did kind of well at this amazing activity. We also had to create a DLO of volume and capacity, we had to estimate, and measure.
