LS1 Mini Minute To Win It Reflection

This week we had our mini Minute To Win It activity finals. We did this event in the school hall. We had six Minute To Win It activities, and they were- Floatacious, This Blows, Stack Attack, Back Flip, A Bit Dicey, and Ready Spaghetti. I did Floatacious and Ready Spaghetti along with Chris. Victoria did A Bit Dicey. Sakina did This Blows. Chris did backflip and Ready Spaghetti along with me. And last but not least Jordan did Stack Attack. Unfortunatly I wasn't able to finish my can tower in one minute, Chris & I came 3rd place along with three other teams. Victoria came first place for A Bit Dicey, but unfortunatly I couldn't upload the video when she won. Sakina got 23 seconds for This Blows, and Jordan wasn't able to get the cups to not scatter all over the place so he didn't get a place. But we all  weren't mad about that. Atleast Victioria got one gold medal for ABAN (our team). At the end of the day we were all greatful to Mr. Wong and Mr. Ogilve for putting up their time to make us happy and make school fun. The whole day was fun because we had fun during the Minute To Win It activities.

Anpanman: Priortising & Collaborating

LI. To prioritise tasks and collaborate to complete a job on time.

This week for cybersmart we had to work on a DLO by collaborating as a group. We had to work four more partners, in my group there are Florence, Pua, Afatia, Sakina and I. We had to give jobs out to the people in our groups. We had the choice between Anpanman and Doraemon. We chose Anpanman. I think Anpanman is a kind fictional character. We had to create a google slide presentation about the following character we chose, and then we had to blog about how we prioritised and collaborated to complete the task.

Screencastify: Maths game

LI. To carry out column addition and subtraction with whole number up to four digits. This week for maths we had to create a screencastify based on the game Mr. Oglive taught us. The aim of the game is to get a total as close to one hundred as possible. I did not get one hundred or less instead I got one hundred and nineteen. I really enjoyed making this screencastify at home because it is better than playing and doing nothing.

What is making connections?

LI. To make connections to a text. This week for reading we had to make a DLO explaining what making connections is. Text to text means a book that you have read in the past that relates to the book that you have just read. Text to world means a text that is a bit like something that happens in the world. Text to self means a text that relates to your experience and in your life.

Commonwealth games

LI: To create a DLO showing information about the Commonwealth games. This week for inquiry we had to make a DLO about the Commonwealth games. First we had to find information about the Commonwealth games. We needed to use our smart searching skills to find out information. The things that we had to find was a map of where the Commonwealth games is, how far it is from Panmure Bridge school, how many countries are competing, the motto and logo for this years game, information on 3 New Zealand medallists, who the 3 medallists are, what sports they do, what was their winning time and who Sophie Pascoe is. For the DLO we decided to do a google draw. For the google draw we had to make sure our print design rules were good. The print design rules are text, colour, composition and layout. We had to show our DLO to Mr. Wong, so he could check if the print design rules were good. I think that the LS1 minute to win it Olympics is really fun because we get to learn new minute to win it activities every week this term.

Homophones

LI. To identify the differences in meaning between common homophones.
This week for writing we learnt about homophones. We had to find the differences between words that sound the same but have different meaning. For example, rain and reign, rain means a a specific liquid that makes things wet, and reign means a royal king or queen ordering there kingdom or land to do something. There are a lot more homophones like, air/ear, their/there/, saw/sore/soar, sea/see, wear/where, and more.

ABAN Whakataui

LI. To create a group whakatauki. This week for inquiry we had to create a group whakatauki. Our whakatauki is 'Work as a team, Improve as a team, co-operate as a team, we strive together'. It represents to strive we have to work together, improve together, and co-operate together. We had to have our motto as well as our team logo.
