Summer Learning Journey | Mighty Mangroves

I think my dad is very strong and tough because whenever someone does something wrong he confronts them and is not scared to tell them to not do what they are doing wrong. My dad is tough because when he realizes there is something wrong that he is doing he stops right away and talks about it to my mum.

LI. To talk about a tough and strong person.
Today I completed the 2nd activity for the 2nd day for the 2nd week of the SLJ. We had to talk about a person who is very strong and tough. This person could be in your personal life or in movies. Summer Learning Journey | Weaving a tall tale...

I would love to flax weave becuase it is fun and the finished product turns out fabulous. I am very interested in flax weaving as it is an amazing fun thing to do. Flax weaving does not only take your boringness away, it also takes some of your time if you have nothing to do. Flax weaving can also make amazing decoration ideas for your room or home. I've always wanted to do flax weaving. I have tried it outdoors but was always to busy to finish the pattern. Flax weaving is one of my favourite things to do outdoors or maybe inside. When I was little my house had a flax plant and I would always try to make patterns with them. Now I don't have any flax, so I try to do it with the carpets strings. I also make patters similar to the flax patterns to my hair or to my sisters hair. I really enjoy flax weaving.

LI. To tell people if you would like to do flax weaving and why or why not.
Today I completed the 1st activity for the 2nd day for the 2nd week of the SLJ. We had to tell if we would like to do flax weaving and tell why we would or why we wouldn't. We also had to tell kf we are interested in flax weaving. I enjoyed this activity because flax weaving is great.

My favourite activity to do is: doing tricks on my parents bed. The reason for this is because if it is school days you will have to do work, and if we do it on the weekends it won't be that long. So if we do it in the holidays we will have more time to do fun tricks.

NZ has a lot of different cultures and that means we get to know about cultures and people more often. Stan Walker is a kiwi too. He is a famous recording artist, actor, and television personality. Summer Learning Journey | Living on the Edge

Dear Sakina,
I am having very fun in Tundra. I never knew that they had barely any trees in here! How do people get fresh air? I saw a couple of animals that have been migrating. I am wearing a very warm and cosy coat. If you ever go to Tundra consider wearing a coat because it is quite cold here. I just found out that the name Tundra means 'treeless mountain tracks' or 'uplands'. The view on the mountains are just amazing! Hope you can come here!

Your Sincerely
Farzana

Summer Learning Journey | Towering Timbers

Image result for logging
LI. To explain if you would like logging or not.
Today I completed the first activity for the 5th day for the SLJ. I think that we should not let logging happen to NZ native trees. My fist reason about this is because animals will have trouble without native trees. My second reason for this is because if you cut down trees think about what will happen to trees if this keeps on going around NZ. If they make books and paper out of the trees, people might just throw it away or waste them. If people keep on continuing this one day our trees might be gone, so how are we going to get fresh air?

LI. To recap our lessons over the term.
This week for our last session for kiwi can we had to recap our learning, catchphrases, and funnest times. First we had to recap our learning over the term. We talked about our theme and our three topics. We then said our three catchphrases that we did this term. Our three catchphrases were: "Kiwi Can says: Come in unity, for our community," "Kiwi Can says: Take pride, in who you are, respect our school, and you'll go far," and "Kiwi Can says: Respect our waters, Air and Trees, Keep it tidy, Keep it clean." When we arrived we had to wait a bit and then compete. My sport wasn't until the afternoon so I waited a                                                            long time. I was cheering for our

Malala Yousafzai Biography | Peace Activist

LI. To create an interactive slide about a peacful activist.
This week for inquiry we had to create an interactive slide with our partners. My partner was Liletina and Lorenzo. Our peaceful activist was Malala Yousafzai. She was born on the 12th of June 1997. Her nationality is Pakistani. Malala shared her Nobel Peace Prize with a man named Kailash Satyarthi. Malala's story was about how she got shot in her head because the Taliban took over their village and forced the women to not have education. Malala came up with her first book and shared her speech. Malala believed that all people should have education and mostly women because people are stopping women and girls from getting educated. Malala now is in University and studying Philosophy.
Here is a link to the Notes- Malala Yousafzai Notes

I also think peace means when people come together to connect with each other whether they are different gender, skin tone, and religion. I enjoyed making the DLO. I also enjoyed writing down the sentences with my group.

Inferring thoughts and emotions | Movie

LI. To infer thought and emotions. This week for reading we had to make inferences on a short film called 'For the birds'. Inference is when you figure out a new idea by getting hints from a story or video with out the author directly saying it. We had to take a screenshot of the part on where we made an inference and then link the time on the film. We then had to write down our inferences on the text box then put our evidence in bullet points. We made two inferences with our whole class. Then we made an inference with our reading group, after that we had to do as many as we can or want by ourselves. I enjoyed the activity because we watched a film with it, and the film was funny.

Athletics Day | Sprint Finals

LI. To have fun and do activities for a day.

Today our school did a bunch of activities for athletics day. The activities were: Eggs and spoon, Rest/Dance, Frisbee throwing, Lifesaver, Discus, Softball, Sponge Relay, Rob the Nest, and Long Jump.

We first did: Dance/Rest, Eggs & Spoon, Frisbee throwing, Rob the Nest, Long Jump, Softball, Discus and Lifesavers last. It was very fun and I enjoyed it a lot. My favourite activity was the Sponge relay. It was my favourite because we got wet and it was super sunny and hot. The Tamaki College students helped us with the activities.

For the activities we had to: run from a distance or jump from where you are, run for the ball when you hear the starter, dance or rest, get into a bag jump to the sponge roll under the stick and then jump over the rope and dip your sponge into the bucket of water, rob the nest and tag people, throw the softball as far as you can get, and throw the hula hoop on the cone, cricket, or on the stick.

I enjoyed the whole day including the race although I didn't come first or second. I hope we do athletics next hear!
