Adding fractions with different denominators
LI. To add fractions with different denominators. This week for maths we had to add fractions with different denominators. If you know all your multiplication facts it would be a lot easier and help you a lot. My equation is- 4/7 + 8/12, and my answer simplified is- 26/21. We had to create a DLO to show how to do this. I used a google presentation to make the DLO. I stumbled a bit the first time and now I understand more now. I realized that I did the wrong thing and then I asked the teacher and now I understand.
Comparing Myths, Fairy Tales, and Legends | Reading Strategies Reminder
LI. To understand where the comprehention strategies go. This week for reading we had to put the reading comprehention strategies to where we think it goes. We had to work with partners. My partner is Florence. I think predicting goes before reading, during reading, and after reading because you can predict what happens before, during, and after reading. You can use prior knowledge before reading so when you stumble over a part you know about, you can understand a bit more about the story.
LI. To compare the similarities and differences between fairy tales, legends and myths. This week for reading we compared the similarities and differences between fairy tales, legends and myths. Myths are usually known for being based on religion beliefs. Legends have had the characters or events changed around a bit. Mr. Wong has told us to read articles about myths, fairy tales, and legends to have a better understanding so we can know what the similarities and differences between the stories.

Visualising & Questioning
LI. To visualise and question scenes in a book. This week for reading we had to get a book from the class library box and pick a scene in the book. We had to put the book title, scene location, the question, the answer, the answer location, and the visualisation. You could draw a picture either digitally or with your hand. I chose with my hand. My group had to make two visualisations. The books I chose are- Let's get invisible, and Beware, The Snowman. They are both a Goosebumps book.
Olympics | Narrative
LI. To create a quick narrative for the Manaiakalani Film Festival. This week for writing we had to write a narrative. We grouped up in groups of three. I worked with- Sandra and Victoria. We had to do a parody of the olympics challenge that LS1 did in term one. We also had to make the narrative funny with action and drama. I tried my best to make the narrative funny with drama and action.

It also can be used to connect and discover more by using social apps. We had to work in groups of 2-3 in my group there are- Victoria and Florence.
Kiwi Sport | Swimming
Today we had our first kiwi sport session for term three. The year four's had to go with room five to the YMCA lagoon. We had swimming sessions with Cameron. When we arrived to the pool we had to go through the hall and then we had to tell the instructor if we can swim. We had to tell her that for safety reasons. We then sat on the edge of the pool. Cameron showed us how to get into the pool safetly if you don't know how deep the pool is. You have to put your hands on one corner and the go down into the pool. We then had to put one hand on the other side so if the water is too deep we have to get out the pool. Cameron told us to try swimming from one platform to the other platform. When we did the rest of the things Cameron told us to float on our backs I did that. We had to float then start kicking to move. After that we had to try diving to the bottom. Then we got taught how to do the pencil dive. We did the pencil dive by putting your hand on your side and then taking a big step, then you fall down into the water. But you have to put your body straight.

Kiwi Can
Today LS1 group A went to kiwi can. It was our first session for term three. We were all happy to be back and do fun activities in the sessions. Our theme for this week is resilience, and our topic for this week is goals. We got into four lines then Mr. Matt put us into two groups. I was in group one. The energizer we were playing is called 'silent actions'. We had to be silent when we are doing the things we were supposed to do. First we had to organize ourselves in the months we were born. It was from January-December. I was born in June so I was 5th in line. When we finished the energizer we got into our activity. Our activity is called 'Up and Down'. There was one hula hoop on the floor we had to stand there and get the other hula hoop around the cones. When it was my turn I unfortunatley didn't get any. Our teams goal was to get to five hundred and the other teams goal was to get to five hundred too but none of the teams got to five hundred. We got two hundred and fifty and the other team got three hundred and fifty so they won.
Duffy Theatre | The Cloakroom bully
Yesterday LS1 went to the hall so we can watch a show that the duffy theatre presented to the school. We sat on the floor and they introduced who they were. There was Chantel, Duffy, and Malanie. The show was about how people bully kids and you should never bully anyone because one day you will realize the consequences. The show was based on a book called 'The Halloween Bully'. Chantel was the bully, Malanie was the bullied student, and Duffy helped Malanie stand up to the bully. Chantel's stage name was Ashley. Duffy was playing soccer with Ashley and Ashley said "Come on let's go!"
Duffy was going to go to Ashley for soccer practise but he heard crying from the toilet, he asked if the person was okay and she came out and told Duffy that she was being bullied. Ashley saw Duffy talking to Malanie. Duffy went and then Ashley threatened Malanie to never play with Duffy. Ashley was making faces, stealing Malanie's lunch, and calling Malanie names constantly. Malanie was always kind to Ashley but Ashley kept on bullying Malanie. Malanie then gave Ashley a book called 'The Halloween Bully'. When Ashley read the book she realized that what she was doing to Malanie was very wrong and then the next day Ashley showed up to school and apologized for being mean and bullying Malanie and they were friends. At the end of the show they thanked us for watching their show and then Fau stood up, and thanked the Duffy Theatre for presenting a lovely show. After that we went back to class.

The kapa haka group went first, then the drummers, and then the junior kapa hake group, then the pacifica went last. We all had sausages to celebrate Matariki. Some students had the vegeterian sausages because of cultural reasons and other reasons. It was a great day to celebrate Matariki it was sunny. We all enjoyed the sausages. Whaea Ode donated the sausages. The pacifica girls moved their hips and the boys moved their legs. I liked the celebration of Matariki.

Today we had a ASB get wise session. The ASB get wise man named Jayden that came to LS1 to teach us how to save money. We learnt about CASH goals. CASH goals stand for- Clear, Action, Save, How long, goals. We have to be clear because we might not like the things we get, we have to take action so you can earn money, we have to save so when we get older we can buy valuable things, we have to know how long so we can step up and earn more money.

Dialogue & Monologue narrative
LI. To write a narrative with dialogue. This week for writing we had to create a narrative by watching a video with no words and thinking about two people talking and what they would say and a person thinking to itself. We watched a video which was about a girl named Maia she found a dog that was alone by itself looking for food in the trash. They slept and woke up on the time of the hurisin. It looked beautiful.
