Boxing | Kiwi Sport

Today LS1 group A went to the hall to take part of the second session for boxing. Our coach was Pax. Pax reminded us about the three commandments.

They were: Respect, discipline, and safety which is the most important. Respect means being thoughtful and kind to our teammates, coach and our teacher. Discipline means showing up on every lesson if you're not sick and giving your 100%. Safety means practising under the guidance of a coach or caregiver. We then put on our liners, boxing gloves and then we got into a circle to remind us about the Jab and Cross.

We had to check if we were touching anybody so we could spread out. We then had to practise the Jab and Cross in a circle. We did it a few times and then learnt how to walk while in the rock position.

To walk forward you have to put your left foot forward then your right foot forward. It is reverse for walking backwards. For example: You get into your rock position, then you stretch your right foot at the back even further back and then you take your left foot back into the rock position. We then learnt the hook and upper cut.

In order to do the hook we had to start in our rock position, we then had to twist sideways, after that we had to punch in a hook motion but sideways. We practised a bit. I got the hang of it and was ok at the hook. We then learnt the uppercut. We had to start in our rock position then go down, and then throw the punch up. We practised a few times. I wasn't good at the uppercut because I don't know the movements very well. We then wrapped the session up.

It was a very fun day. I enjoyed learning new stuff and I hope I will be good at it one day.
