Stations | Activities

LI. To investigate the relationship between the perimeter and area of rectangles. This week for maths we had to create a slide presentation of the stations that had activities at them. We had to get into groups of four. In my group there was: Victoria, Alice, and Florence. Mr. Ogilvie had set up five stations each and we all did one exept for Victoria who did two because we were groups of four. At the first station we had to investigate the relationship between the area and perimeter. At station two we had to measure centimeters and then cut the centimeters we marked to make a house. At the third station we had to answer square root equations on a task sheet. At the fourth station we needed to cut a square out of Squared paper and try to see what the area and Perimeter of the Square is in Centimeters. Then you had to cut the square once to make a rectangle with the perimeter of 20 centimeters. And finally at the last station we looked at 2 x 2 and 3 x 3 squares and their differences. Then we were to compare the perimeters of a 3 x 3 to a 4 x 4 square and then compare the different squares with the area of the next biggest square. We looked at differences squares and then looked at their differences from the next biggest squares.
